MY TOP FIVE COMFORT READS

So, I haven’t been around on the blog for a little while! I’ve been lucky to have been chosen to be a judge for two book awards, which has meant quite a lot of reading these past few months. Now my reading lists have settled a bit, I wanted to come back with a few blog posts!

Right now, the world is a place that can be quite anxiety inducing for a lot of people. Times are strange and scary, so many are turning to books for comfort. I wanted to give you a list of my top five comfort reads in the hopes that you might have one of these on your bookshelves and give it a go, whether it be a new read or returning to a favourite!

TOP FIVE COMFORT READS

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman

heartstopper

One of my all-time personal favourites, Heartstopper has a way of drawing you in – whether it be the joyous art style, the loveable characters, or the uplifting story. It’s certainly one book that can put a smile on your face, even for a little while.

Noah Can’t Even by Simon James Green

33961524

Everyone needs a book to get lost in to really make them laugh, and if you’re looking for that then look no further that Noah Can’t Even! Following the life of teenage boy Noah, this book tackles first crushes, dealing with bullies and coping with wild characters in a truly fun and hilarious way!

Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya

Furuba1

I know I talk about Fruits Basket a lot, but it really is such a comfort read and I can’t wait to continue my reread of the whole series. There’s magic, friendships, romance and mystery all within this manga series, so there’s something for everyone. Plus, the illustrations are gorgeous, and you’re bound to get attached to some of the characters!

The House With Chicken Legs by Sophie Anderson

ChickenLegs

I had to include some middle grade in my list, and think The House With Chicken Legs is one book that is truly delightful as well as comforting. Full of magic with a real fairy tale vein throughout – as well as stunning illustrations – this is a perfect book to read snuggled up in bed, although it may keep you reading all night with how good it is!

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

Nimona

An old graphic novel favourite, Nimona is one of those great books that begs to be read in one sitting. The character of Nimona herself is really enticing and mysterious, but the secondary storyline between Lord Blackheart and Sir Goldenloin is also intriguing and leaves you wanting more…

I hope this little list manages to bring you some comfort from your bookshelves! I’ve got quite a lot to read myself, so may even make another book list if I find any of my current reads comforting too!
